R22 PHASE OUT - RETRO FITS DONE BY MARICHEM-MARIGASES
CFCs are regulated under the Montreal Protocol and have been banned in most countries all over the world.
The European Community has adapted an accelerated phase out of the HCFC refrigerants starting from 1 January, 2010. This means that no European Community country can use virgin R22 from 1 January, 2010; the only product allowed for use is reclaimed product only.
For other developed countries, the ban of virgin HCFS is to take effect from 1 January, 2015.
Marichem-Marigases is recommending that ship owners who are currently using HCFS (R22), retrofit their systems if they are calling at European ports.
